Dr. Margaret Chan opens 64th World Health Assembly... (to the private sector!)
The 64th World Health Assembly started last Monday in Geneva. This is the annual meeting of all member states of the World Health Organization where decisions are taken on the organization's orientation. Although intal is not represented, our friends of the People's Health Movement are providing us with first hand accounts straight from the session halls on the website of Global Health Watch: http://www.ghwatch.org/who-watch/WHA64 . They are present with a strong team of WHO watchers including Chiara Bodini who was our guest in Belgium for the global health short course a couple of weeks ago. Health activists have reason to be concerned as the WHO is desperate for funds from the corporate sector.
Check out the report of day 1 ( http://www.ghwatch.org/who-watch/WHA64/DayOne ) and hear Chiara deliver PHM's statement to the assembly below.
